Mutual Improvement Classes

Mutual Improvement Classes

Our members value the opportunity to learn from each other. Enabling the sharing of best practice, in a structured way, is another key part of what the Heritage Railway Association does.

Our Mutual Improvement Classes are designed to be of real value to senior managers, directors and trustees of all heritage railways, tramways, cable-guided railways and rolling stock owners. They are run online to provide the best possible access to member railways throughout the UK.

Each MIC is a busy 60-90 minute session. They feature a short presentation from a lead speaker with relevant experience and expertise followed by an interactive discussion on the points raised and an opportunity to share ideas and experience.

Each session is ‘chaired’ by the HRA and is normally limited to a maximum of 30 participants, plus the presenter or organiser.

At least two sessions on each topic are normally held. A maximum of two participants from each organisation can attend each MIC session. Please note that sessions may be rescheduled or cancelled if there is insufficient interest.

We use Microsoft Teams to run the MIC sessions, but guidance will be provided to attendees for anyone not familiar with using the technology. Please note that we also record the sessions for internal use only.

More information on the next series of HRA Mutual Improvement Classes will be available soon.
