The International Railway Heritage Consultancy Ltd (IRHC) provide a one-stop consultancy shop for railway heritage organisations internationally and domestically. The Company is formed around a core of specialists who provide the immediate skills required to serve the needs of many of the contracts which come their way. IRHC also has access to a number of other experts in their respective fields who are brought into the team as affiliates for the duration of a project. The Company’s approach is emphatically collegiate and they work with their clients to identify the optimum outcome, underpinned with excellent communications. IRHC has a powerful work and business ethic and, above all, they are nice people to work with!

Partnering Reason

The IRHC has amassed an extensive range of clients and projects, both internationally and at home - A representative sample is shown here: UK operational and engineering agents to The Train at the End of theWorld, Argentina, including hosting training courses in the UK. Review of the offer and operations at the Israel Railway Museum in Haifa. Support to the Bahamas Locomotive Society in validating the HLF grant it received to restore the locomotive to mainline operational condition. Support to the Statfold Barn Railway in developing its case to be granted Museum status. Awarded a contract by the Association of BritishTransport and Engineering Museums (ABTEM) to write fresh UK Guidelines for the Conservation of Large and Working Objects. This remit covers heavy-rail, light-rail and trams, stationary engines, ships, boats, and aircraft. This Arts Council-funded project was completed in 2018. Project to further develop the Nigerian Railway Museum in Lagos, including assessment of River Class 2-8-2s for return to working order. Project management of a 5-part UK Channel 4TV series charting the restoration of four poor-condition historic coaches in just 6 months, featuring TV personality Peter Snow. Support to the development of a new Railway Museum inYokohama, including construction of a replica of Japan's first railway carriage. Engagement in two contracts for Darlington Borough Council developing ideas for the delivery of the Stockton & Darlington Railway Bicentenary in 2025.
