Day Out With Thomas™ is a ticketed family event that takes place at heritage railways and museums across the globe giving Thomas & Friends™ fans, of all ages, the unique opportunity to meet the classic storybook character Thomas the Tank Engine. The key feature of the event is the opportunity to take a train ride with Thomas on a REAL steam engine alongside meeting Sir Topham Hatt and enjoying live entertainment with Sodor Station Sweepers Rusty & Dusty. With Thomas & Friends games and activities, storytelling sessions, arts & crafts, photo opportunities and so much more, visitors can enjoy a whole day out with all the family. Events can run throughout the year including Christmas, and each tour embraces a new creative theme. Mattel supports all partners in marketing their events, as well as providing an extensive operational event kit and bespoke merchandise.

Summary

Mattel have been partnering with railways for over 30 years bringing Day Out With Thomas events to fans of all ages. 2026 marks the 31st annual Day Out With Thomas tour for the global program.
