Safety workshops 2025/26

Safety on Heritage Railways

The Office of Rail and Road, and Rail Accident Investigation Branch recognise that the heritage rail sector is the most diverse sector of the rail industry in the UK. They are keen to actively engage with all heritage railways and tramways.

2025/26 Workshops

The Heritage Railway Association is again working with the ORR and RAIB to offer a programme of seminars. We strongly recommend that your railway or tramway attends both an ORR and an RAIB workshop if at all possible.

About the Workshops

The workshops are open to all standard gauge, narrow gauge and 15” gauge railways, and all other railways and tramways regulated by the ORR. Operators of funicular railways are also welcome to attend.

The day will also provide a comprehensive opportunity for candid discussion, feedback and networking.

These complimentary workshops are being run by the ORR in conjunction with the HRA. The ORR would like every operating railway to attend, and the event is open to non HRA heritage railway operators.

Places at each event are free of charge but limited to around 40 people. Initially, we can only accept two registrations from each railway. Light refreshments will be available.
