Trade Associates

The Heritage Railway Association has developed a number of mutually beneficial partnerships with like-minded organisations. Our Trade Associates network is made up of non-profit bodies who wish to work with, and support the aims of, the HRA.

Where appropriate we look to develop a closer working relationship to share ideas, activities and objectives. For those whose principal focus is on other sectors, our wish is to identify common aims and objectives, to develop a stronger working relationship, and to lobby and work together on issues relevant to our respective sectors.

Current examples of HRA Trade Associates include the National Traction Engine Trust plus the Boiler and Engineering Skills Training Trust (BESTT). We work closely with both organisations on issues like engineering standards and the availability of fuels for the heritage steam sector. Other Trade Associates include organisations looking to develop the heritage rail offer in other parts of the world looking to share experiences.

Our Trade Associates also gain from having access to the skills and knowledge of the heritage rail sector, one of the biggest and most successful sectors in the UK heritage and tourism landscape.
