New Europe Railway Heritage Trust

Principal Activity

The United Kingdom is the world leader in railway preservation and the New Europe Railway Heritage Trust exists to share British expertise in this field with those in the former USSR and the ex-Communist countries of Eastern and Central Europe who are seeking to preserve their railway heritage, often in very challenging conditions. The New Europe Railway Heritage Trust send British experts on railway preservation to advise railways and museums in the East. The Trust arrange study tours and work experience placements on UK heritage railways for visitors from the New Europe, and help in all sorts of ways, including participation in conferences and other events. Much of their work is devoted to explaining railway preservation to politicians, officials and others in the countries where they are active.
