NEW – Chair’s Lunches
The Heritage Railway Association is launching a new series of events aimed specifically at the chairs of heritage rail organisations.
The Chair’s Lunches have been designed as great networking events. They will provide ideal opportunities for peer-to-peer conversations with counterparts in other heritage rail bodies and the chance to build new connections.
They’ll give everyone the chance to talk about opportunities and challenges, share concerns and chat about ideas in a relaxed and collaborative environment.
Heritage Railway Association Chief Executive, Steve Oates, said: “It’s lonely at the top, or so the saying goes. But these events are designed to tackle that head on.
“We’ve created the Chair’s Lunches to help heritage rail chairs come together in a relaxed environment to share their thoughts and perhaps talk over their trials and tribulations. We do lots of events where everyone is welcome, but these afternoons are specifically for those who chair a heritage railway, tramway or rolling stock group to collaborate and share their experiences in a supporting environment ... with Chatham House rules and a bite to eat.”
Don't just take our word for it ...
"Excellent opportunity to share experience and challenge. It can be a lonely role, so is great to be able to share with and learn from others in the same position." Major standard gauge railway chair.
"A very useful use of our precious time to meet informally and discuss areas of mutual interest." Steam centre chair.
"A great way to compare and contrast the way that other heritage railways are structured and operated." Recently appointed heritage railway chair.
"Worthwhile time out from a busy schedule." Chair of a 15in gauge railway.
"A very useful and thought provoking afternoon. Also relieved that our problems appear similar to everyone elses!" Recently reopened heritage railway chair.
